Busy Mom To My Three Men

I am a mom to three fantastic yet exhausting boys. Not a moment goes by that they say or do something that I say to myself I must remember to write that down. So, here I'll share their funny stories and my crazy life. I think I strive on chaos (thus explains my house most of the time.)

Happy Thursday!

So I have embarked on yet another project. In June we have our annual installation for our Newcomer's and Neighbor's Club (www.newcomersseymouroxford.org) We usually do a roast type thing for our five year members yet many people can't take a joke and we decided we should try something different so I am arranging a murder mystery dinner. We are doing a murder mystery called Death By Chocolate (how can we go wrong here.)Here's the link for the site I purchased it from. http://www.dinnerandamurder.com/Games/Chocolate.htm
It is really neat because you get everything emailed to you. All my "actresses" have received their character profile which has some inside information about their character and a list of other characters. The day of the dinner they will get their "confidential secret info" which looks really neat. Since I know so much information already, kind of, I get to be the hostess. I know who gets knocked off but then if the characters happen to solve the riddles and find "murder cards" they can commit other Random murders. I have a feeling bodies are going to be turning up all over the place.LOL
Off topic kind of, I get to get sworn in as president for the 2006-2007 president for the club. What the heck am I thinking????!!! It will be exciting but I'm nervous. With all the planning for the upcoming year, the craft show and the regional meeting we have to host I am going to go crazy!!!
On a completely different topic, does anyone know any good reading computer software for 1st grade. Owen's teacher informed me yesterday (yes, with only a month and a half left of school) that Owen is reading at a DRL (developmental reading level of 10) when the rest of the class is around a 13 and by the time they start 2nd grade they should be at a 15/16. When I asked her why he isn't getting special reading help-a fellow Newcomer is the 1st grade reading specialist-I was told that he doesn't fall enough below the level for him to get help!!!! I AM FURIOUS!!!! So, instead he just keeps on struggling by. See, Owen's problem is he is very visual and thinks every word has to follow the rules. For example, the word sure he'll read as sewer because it can't possibly be sure because there is no 'sh' in it. The same with the word taking. He doesn't see the letter "e" so therefore he doesn't understand how the letter "A" should sound so pronounces it "tacking". So, if anyone knows of any good books that might interest Owen at his level or can recommend a software program please share your knowledge. Thanks.

No software ideas- I'm not so big on reading software, sorry, but nothing compares to a book in your hands when it comes to learning to read! But I posted a bunch of good techniques I've used in the past on the MSN board.

HUGS!
